The University of Northwestern, St. Paul initials appear as four large purple forms in this WhiteClouds project. The U, N, and W are mounted on a shared gray base as one freestanding outdoor campus assembly.
Purple UNW letters built as dimensional forms
The letters use broad faces and substantial depth, so the abbreviation remains readable beyond a flat sign. Their shared purple finish keeps the four-character group visually consistent from left to right.
A person can stand in front of the display for scale, while the first and last letters reveal the depth of the dimensional forms.
A common base preserves the letter spacing
The low gray base supports the full abbreviation and keeps the spacing between letters fixed. It also separates the purple forms from the brick surface beneath the display.
