WhiteClouds created a set of four-foot green IWU steel letters for Illinois Wesleyan University. Installed in front of the Hansen Student Center, the display marked the university's 175th anniversary. Alumnus Corey Schieler, class of 1997, and his wife, Pam, donated the campus installation.
Three initials translated into a campus-scale display
The installation uses three freestanding characters on a long masonry base. Simple block geometry, deep sides, and a uniform green finish carry IWU across the landscaped approach. The four-foot IWU letters stand at human scale in front of the Hansen Student Center.
Installed at the Hansen Student Center
The IWU letters are centered on a raised masonry bed in front of the student center. The green forms contrast with the brick facade and surrounding plantings, creating a direct visual link to the university initials and the anniversary setting.
The short three-letter format puts more emphasis on each character's proportions. Each character shares the same height, depth, green finish, and baseline, while the open center of the W and the narrower I preserve their own silhouettes. At four feet tall, the short IWU wordmark fills the masonry bed without stretching across the full facade. The consistent green treatment unifies the three distinct shapes.
