Johnson County Square's four JOCO letters combine a place name, public art, seating, and play in one outdoor installation. WhiteClouds created the large metal forms for the Square's Phase 2 work in downtown Olathe, Kansas. The letters were created for interaction within the Phase 2 art garden play area in downtown Olathe.
Four sculptural letters for Johnson County Square
The installation spells JOCO with four freestanding metal letters. Each letter measures approximately 9 feet high, 10 feet wide, and 4 feet deep, giving the word enough scale to operate as a landmark within the public square.
The project was commissioned for Phase 2 of Johnson County Square. The Phase 2 art garden play area sits in downtown Olathe beside a multipurpose platform.

The four completed letters form one coordinated installation within Johnson County Square. Their different colors make each character easy to distinguish, while the shared depth and scale keep the four forms visually connected.
The project gives the Phase 2 play area a direct Johnson County identity. Their large proportions and openings turn the letters into seating and play forms as well as signage.
