Spalding commissioned WhiteClouds to build a basketball throne for the Red Bull Half Court World Finals in New York City. The finished prop measures approximately 75.6 inches high, 65.1 inches wide, and 66.4 inches deep. Client-supplied basketballs wrap the arms and tall back, making the sport and sponsor visible in the physical form of the seat.
A courtside seat built from the visual language of basketball
The throne combines a functional orange seat with a black framed structure and rows of Spalding basketballs. Balls stack along the arms, climb the back, and finish the crown-like top. The basketball throne stood against Red Bull Half Court Finals graphics with the New York skyline behind it.
Used at the Half Court World Finals
The finished throne was assembled at the event and used as seating. WhiteClouds fabricated the physical prop for Spalding's event presentation.
The finished throne keeps the seating area open while basketballs define the arms, back, and crown. The orange cushion remains separate from the repeated basketballs, while the dark frame outlines the throne against the venue graphics. The basketball treatment continues around the object instead of forming a flat backdrop.
