PROJECT STORY

3-by-5-Foot Dell Energy Grid Diorama

WhiteClouds created a three-by-five-foot energy-grid diorama for Dell Technologies with programmable lighting that visualizes electricity, information, and fault-control scenarios.

WhiteClouds created a three-by-five-foot energy-grid diorama for Dell Technologies. Programmable LEDs beneath the model's roads show electricity moving through a substation, information and control paths across the system, and multiple fault-control scenarios. The physical landscape includes power infrastructure, buildings, solar panels, wind turbines, roads, vehicles, and cooling towers.

Project overview

A physical grid organized around connected systems

The diorama presents a community-scale energy network within one rectangular footprint. Generation, distribution, buildings, transportation, and control infrastructure are arranged across the scene so viewers can see how the parts relate spatially instead of encountering each component as an isolated diagram.

The model combines a broad site footprint with illuminated paths through its energy-grid elements. The combination makes both the individual details and the overall grid organization visible.

Final application

A compact model for explaining a large connected network

The completed diorama gives Dell Technologies a physical way to present several energy and information paths within one shared environment. Its three-by-five-foot footprint accommodates a broad system view while retaining enough detail to distinguish major infrastructure and community elements.

The physical demonstration model presents power, information, and fault-control scenarios.
