The Hot Mess Show display combines a script phrase with larger illuminated block letters. The stacked LOVE display places bulbs across letters and a heart element. Design the bulb pattern with the letterform
Bulbs should reinforce the approved outline instead of being placed after the typography is fixed.
Stroke spacing
Set light points along broad and narrow strokes so the rhythm looks intentional without crowding small areas.
Open counters
Protect the interior spaces of letters and script loops so illumination does not erase the character shape.
Word emphasis
Use density, color direction, or separate lighting zones only where they clarify the hierarchy of the message.
Dark-state appearance
Review face, bulb, side, and base colors with the lights off as well as on.
Plan the display for the light already in the room
A marquee piece on a dark stage behaves differently from one in a bright expo hall, storefront window, or daylight event. Share photographs and the expected operating hours so brightness, color direction, and contrast can be discussed for the actual environment.
The longest viewing distance controls the broad rhythm of the lights. Close photographs reveal sockets, bulb spacing, face edges, and reflections. Identify which view has priority and whether the display will be seen from the sides or back.

Coordinate lighting with stacking, script, and scenic support
A stacked word can reduce total width, but it changes cable paths, overlap, and reading order. Script elements may need a different bulb rhythm from broad block letters. Shaped logos can use light points to trace an outline or emphasize interior features rather than imitate an alphabet pattern.
Provide the stage, wall, shelf, floor, or freestanding context and identify where equipment may be concealed. If the piece tours, include the smallest doorway, storage limits, setup window, and handling expectations so the display format can be evaluated with the lighting plan.
