Trimensional App

The Trimensional app is a 3D scanner app created by Trimensional, LLC for the iPhone and the iPod. Users can scan friends and family to create 3D models.

Trimensional uses the screen and the front-facing camera and detects patterns of light on your face to build a 3D model. Turn the screen brightness to maximum and turn off all the lights. The Trimensional scanner works best in the dark. Then take close-ups of your subject.

Once the images is scanned, you can export the STL file through email. Trimensional also ensure that the model is watertight with a closed rectangular back on the scanned picture. The STL file can then be used to 3D print the portrait. The STL file is sent to the 3D printer’s interfacing software, where it slices the model into sections and determines how the layers will be printed. Then, the scan is printed into a 3D model.

The Trimensional App is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation), iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iPad (4th generation), iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (4th generation), iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
