X-Carriage
The X-Carriage is the part of the 3D printer that controls the position of the print head on the X-axis of the printer.
How It Works
The X-Carriage is a parallel pair of metal rods, or some other type of track, that are typically located horizontally along the edges of the 3D printer. The X-Carriage is powered by a stepper motor that uses digital pulses to move the print head. The pulse technology makes smaller movements possible and creates more accurate parts than a traditional motor.
In some 3D printers, the X-Carriage is attached to the print bed and moves the print bed instead of the printer head. This way, both the print head and print bed move in conjunction to print the part. In deltabot technology, the robotic arms act as the X, Y, and Z-Carriage.
