Mike Hernandez of Break the Barriers contacted WhiteClouds about creating mythical targets for archery. The dragon in that project stands just over 10 feet tall and weighs approximately 600 pounds. WhiteClouds fused expanded polystyrene foam blocks, hand-sculpted the creature, reinforced vulnerable areas, and completed the surface with hard coating and detailed paintwork.
A large sculptural form designed for archery use
The dragon had to look complete while also serving as an archery target. A tall stance, outstretched wings, long neck, and detailed head define the mythical creature, while the broad body presents the central target area. The full sculpture has substantial vertical scale.
WhiteClouds began the build with two and a half EPS foam blocks, each measuring eight by four by three feet. WhiteClouds fused the blocks and then removed material by hand to develop the dragon's body, wings, limbs, head, and surface details.
A finished dragon with scale, detail, and a defined use
The completed piece combines a large fantasy sculpture with a working archery-target role. Its size and weight establish the scope of the build, while the reinforced head and delicate features reflect how the intended activity shaped fabrication decisions.
